TEMECULA – Dressed in a spirit showcase of Red and Black, staff members at Nicolas Valley Elementary School spelled out the number “54!” in celebration of their double digit increase in API scores this year.

The elementary school, which educates more than 1000 students in grades K-5, increased its score on the Academic Performance Index by 54 points in 2004, placing it in the top 20% of the state. To celebrate the high growth of student achievement, students and staff were treated to an ice-cream party after a Friday assembly on February 4, 2005.
